Pan de Cádiz or turrón de Cádiz is a marzipan cake that resembles a bread loaf (Pan means 'bread' in Spanish). It was invented in the 1950s by the pastry chef Antonio Valls Garrido, and nowadays there are many recipes. What all the recipes have in common is that the cake is made out of layers of marzipan and candied fruits. While Pan de Cádiz can be as big as 6kg, those are small cakes (300g) of layers of marzipan, candied sweet potato puree and candied egg yolk, beautifully shaped in a delicate cake that is even toasted on the top to look like an authentic bread loaf.

Ingredients: Marzipan - supreme quality - (sugar, ALMOND (45%), preservative (sorbic acid), candied sweet potato (20%): (sweet potato, sugar, glucose syrup, preservatives (sorbic acid, potassium sobrate), aroma), candied egg yolk (15%): (EGG YOLK, sugar, glucose syrup), preservative (sorbic acid), stabiliser (carboxymethyl cellulose), acid (citric acid), water: (potato starch, vegetable oil (sunflower)). May contain traces of MILK.
