Description
Avocado honey comes from the avocado blossoms nectar. It is a dark amber colour and feels smooth and silky on the tongue. It has a very bold flavour profile, somewhat of a burnt, smoky, molasses taste.
While Avocado is a fruit originally from South America, the only European area where it is also grown is Costa Tropical on the south of Spain (Especially on the Axarquia in Malaga, but also on Granada´s coast: Motril, Salobreña, Almuñecar…). This honey is artisanally produced by E. Company from the honey of bees feed on avocado flowers.
It is a perfect substitute for maple syrup. You can have it drizzled over crispy bacon and as an ingredient in your barbecue glaze for pork and chicken. Try dunking a piece of hot cornbread or a biscuit into a bowl of avocado honey whipped with butter for a simple but comforting treat. It is also equally delicious over fresh-cut juicy fruit, salty nuts and smooth, smoky cheeses.
