Spanish custard (natillas in Spanish) is slightly thicker and less sweet than the custard we usually find in the UK. Traditionally it´s served on a terracotta dish with a Maria biscuit at the bottom and topped with powder cinnamon, but it can be part of more sophisticated recipes and even can be used to fill churros or in-home baking. This powdered custard is easy to make and has all the flavour of homemade custard without the mess of making it from scratch. Simple and quick to prepare, you will have an authentic Spanish dessert that will delight your family and friends.

Preparation method:

  1. Mix 200ml of cold milk and one sachet of Royal Natillas. Keep it aside.
  2. Heat 400ml of milk and 4 - 5 spoons of sugar in a saucepan.
  3. Once the milk is boiling, add the mix and stir. Once is boiling again, reduce the heat.
  4. Stir constantly for 1 - 2 minutes and remove from the heat.
  5. Pour the Custard into the serving bowls and wait until is cold.


Corn starch, salt, thickener (E407), colourings [E100, E160b(ii)], aromas, stabilizer (E339). It may contain wheat and milk.
